J-700 and J-800 tubas
There is considerable excitement on the street about the introduction of the W.Nirschl 4/4 tubas. The proto-type of the BBb tuba was on display at Midwest Clinic in 2007 and 2008 and at TMEA (Texas) in 2007 and TBA in 2007. Jason Wallace played the proto-type in the Dallas Wind Symphony for nearly a year. The proto-type is now in Brazil as is the tooling from Bavaria. We are finally closing in on production. We expect the first instruments to roll off the line by the end of April. The anticipated suggested retail price will be under $7000 for the 4 valve BBb.You may be aware that Walter Nirschl is the owner of B&M Symphonic, formerly known as Bohm and Meinl in Geretsried Bavaria. Bohm and Meinl was the repository for the J.W. York and Sons tooling and built the York Master model tubas that were distributed by Carl Fisher in the 60's. You can expect striking similarities.Pictured are the York Master Model, a York CC tuba next to a Meister Walter Nirschl CC tuba and some other relevent pictures. The biggest change in the J-700 from the York Master is the more vertical valve placement that originated in the 6/4 tuba Walter copied from Arnold Jacobs' tuba.
